U.S President Donald Trump has been admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center “out of an abundance of caution” after testing positive for the coronavirus, the White House said on Friday (Oct 2).

On Friday evening , a Marine One landed on the White House’s South Lawn to transport Trump to Walter Reed. Around 6:15p.m., Trump walked out of the White House and boarded the helicopter.

“President Trump remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day,” the White House said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days. President Trump appreciates the outpouring of support for both he and the First Lady.”

Trump posted a video message to his Twitter account shortly after he arrived at Walter Reed announcing that he would be admitted to the hospital and thanking his supporters.

“I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out,” Trump said in the video. “Thank you very much, I appreciate it. I will never forget it.”

Trump is undergoing antiviral remdesivir treatment "in consultation with specialists," according to a Friday night memo from White House physician Sean Conley.

"I am happy to report that the President is doing very well. He is not requiring any supplemental oxygen," Conley wrote.

"He has completed his first dose and is resting comfortably." Conley wrote.

Trump also tweeted today (Oct 3) morning "Going welI, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!"
