Uttarakhand's Chief Minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat and several of his Government's ministers have been placed under home quarantine after one of their Cabinet colleague ministers tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday (31 May), reports Asian News International (ANI).
Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj who had attended the Cabinet meeting called by CM Rawat on Friday (29 May) had found to have contracted the virus yesterday, following which he was hospitalised along with his five family members ate AIIMS Rishikesh.
It should be noted that Maharaj's wife Amrita Rawat had tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday (30 May) following which she was moved to AIIMS Rishikesh, while Maharaj and his staff were placed under quarantine. However, by Sunday, a total of 22 people including Maharaj's family members and staff had tested positive.
Following the escalated situation, a total of 41 more individuals living at Maharaj's residence have been placed under quarantine while their samples have been sent to be tested for COVID-19.
