In his ‘Mann ki Baat’ address to the nation today (29 April), Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi urged students to take up a summer internship with the government towards Swachh Bharat and also announced incentives for the participants.
Announcing ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018’, PM Modi said that this was an opportunity for the youngsters who want to contribute to the society meaningfully. The internships are for students both at school and college levels.
The PM said that three union ministries have launched Swachh Bharat internships and the best among the interns will receive recognition at the national level. The interns who accomplish their tasks well will also be awarded two credit points by the UGC.

Swachh Bharat is PM Modi’s signature project focussing on cleanliness in the country, the virtues of which are frequently extolled by the PM. The newest push will help provide a direction to youngsters who want to contribute towards the aim but don’t know how to help.
In his address, the PM also stressed on water conservation in view of the upcoming summer, and said that it was everybody’s responsibility to make sure that water is not wasted.
He also lauded the achievements of Indian athletes, especially women, who’re competing in the Commonwealth Games, many of whom hail from small towns and villages.
He also said that the government is developing the Buddhist tourist circuit in the country to make it easier for tourists from Buddhist nations in South-East Asia to travel around the country.
