The Pakistani establishment’s friendly relations with the Taliban were out on display in Islamabad recently as a 12-member delegation of the terror group led by Mullah Baradar received a warm welcome at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and ISI chief Lieutenant-General Faiz Hameed were seen receiving the delegation with wide smiles and tight hugs. The video of the same can be viewed below:

Although it is no secret that the Pakistani establishment through the ISI had developed the Taliban as a its primary proxy force in Afghanistan post the Soviet withdrawal, and has continued to nurture and support the group secretly while it tries to overthrow the US-backed government in Kabul.
However, this was one of the rare occasions when those at the very top of the Pakistani power structure were seen mingling so freely with Taliban leaders as if they had been close friends all along.
