In a big shock to the BJP, the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress has now crossed the 200 mark in West Bengal - a number which was not predicted even by exit polls. The BJP on the other hand is a distant second with 77 seats.
Exit polls had suggested a neck and neck battle between the BJP and TMC but if the trends hold, it will be a landslide victory for Mamata Banerjee's party.
The current vote difference between the TMC and the BJP is almost 11 percentage points. In contrast it was less than three per cent in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The battle for Nandigram is heating up as Mamata and Suvendu Adhikari are neck and neck with the latter leading intermittently since morning. As per latest election commission update he is leading by six votes.
Top BJP leaders like Babul Supriyo and Swapan Dasgupta are trailing from their seats.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
