Western UP Sees 40 Per Cent Turnout Till 1 PM; Union Ministers V K Singh, Satyapal Singh, Mahesh Sharma In Fray

Recording a 40 per cent voter turn out till 1300 hrs, eight Lok Sabha constituencies of Western Uttar Pradesh are witnessing brisk polling activity, reports Business Standard.

Braving intense heat of the high summer, voters turned out in large numbers. The polling process, so far, has gone well and smooth without any uneventful activity, said an official of the state election department.

Three Union ministers -- V K Singh(Ghaziabad), Satyapal Singh (Baghpat) and Mahesh Sharma (Gautam Budha Nagar) are among the high profile candidates in the fray.

The first phase of the Lok Sabha elections is happening across 91 constituencies spread over 20 States and Union Territories.
