E-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart have witnessed record transactions during their ongoing annual festival sales, Business Standard has reported.
Flipkart claimed that it has witnessed double the sales on the first day of its Big Billion Day sale as compared to last year. Amazon India on the other hand claimed that it has witnessed its biggest opening day sale ever, with small towns seeing a huge participation surge.
Flipkart has claimed that its premium program “Flipkart Plus” saw a 300 per cent transaction growth during the early access period and its customers from smaller cities doubled their presence.
Flipkart witnessed the most demand in segments like beauty, women’s ethnic wear, kidswear, sports, FMCG, baby care, private labels, and furniture.
High-end phones were a big attraction on Amazon and top brands like Apple, Samsung and OnePlus generated a revenue of Rs 750 crore in just 36 hours. It also recorded the single largest signup for its Prime membership.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
