WhatsApp has introduced a new shopping button in the application that will allow the users to conveniently find the catalog of a business and access the information of the goods and services offered by the company, PTI reports.
On a daily basis, over 175 million people message a WhatsApp business account. Other than that, more than 40 million individuals, that include over three million Indian users, view a business’ catalog per month.
Earlier, people had to click on the profile of a business account to check if they had a catalog. “Now, when a person sees the shopping button, which looks like a storefront icon, they will immediately know the business has a catalog so they can browse products and start a conversation about an item they see with just one tap. This will make it easier for businesses to have their products discovered which can help increase sales,” WhatsApp revealed in a statement.
The American freeware said that the approaching festive season prompted them to launch this feature. “And, we want to make the shopping experience even better, especially as we get ready for a holiday shopping season unlike any other when people will need helpful ways to make purchases remotely and businesses want digital tools to close sales,” they added.
The shopping button will replace the voice call option at the top. Now onward, users will have to click on the call button and choose between making either a video or a voice call.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
