Various Delhi residents ran for their lives when anti-Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) protesters wrecked havoc on the streets of the national capital, IANS has reported.
A Delhi resident quoted by the report recounted her horror, “people were so terrified by the protesters that many left their cars on the way and ran for their life”.
The resident also showed reporter a car which was abandoned by a group of women near Sarai Julema in Jamia Nagar, after they feared for their safety and decided to flee.
As per the report, at least five buses were set ablaze by the rioting protesters along with various bikes and cars. The rampage which included arson and stone pelting continued for over an hour as the mob ran amok threatening residents.
The intensity of the rampage was so high that black clouds of smoke could be seen up to 4 km away. As fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire, the violent mob also decided to attack them. The vehicles were damaged and two firemen were injured.
As part of precautionary measures, the authorities ordered that affected roads be closed for traffic.
