With India becoming an attractive destination of research & development (R&D) in the artificial intelligence and related technologies, IT services major Wipro and IIT-Kharagpur are in collaboration to go for applied research in AI and 5G connectivity, reports Hindustan Times.
Both the partners- Wipro and IIT-Kharagpur are looking forward to attain expertise in applied research in designing, planning and operating 5G network and related platforms. Both the organisations are looking to devise the AI platforms for the betterment of healthcare, education and retail sectors. Much bigger domains of climate change and cyber security are also on the anvil.
Knowledge sharing platforms such as guest lectures, workshops and seminars on 5G and AI will be mutually arranged by Wipro and IIT.
Speaking on the developments, Wipro’s chief technology officer K R Sanjiv said, “We hope to bring synergies between Wipro’s rich industry technology expertise and understanding of domain specific business challenges with IIT Kharagpur’s distinguished research capabilities to co-innovate and develop next generation AI and 5G solutions that will benefit both our clients and the industry at large”.
