With over 7.33 lakh Covid-19 tests conducted on Tuesday (11 August), more than 2.6 crore samples have been tested across the country for the disease so far, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data has revealed.
At present, a total of 1,421 laboratories have been conducting the Covid-19 tests across the country. Of these, 944 are government while 477 are private laboratories.
As many as 7,33,449 samples were tested for Covid-19 on 11 August, the ICMR said.
"The total number of COVID-19 samples tested up to 11 August is 2,60,15,297 including 7,33,449 samples tested on Tuesday," said the ICMR in a bulletin shared on Twitter on Wednesday (12 August).
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases in India rose to over 23.29 lakh on Wednesday, with 60,963 new coronavirus cases and 834 deaths reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
Currently, 6,43,948 cases are active and 1,639,599 people have recovered from the disease in India. As many as 46,091 fatalities have been reported in country so far.
