It looks like the wait for Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA’s maiden store in India is still never ending. The store, originally scheduled to open on 19 July will now open on 9 August, nearly two weeks later, reports Mint.

In a statement, IKEA Retail India said that it was postponing the opening as it needed time to live up to the expected quality commitments of its customers and coworkers.

Opening the first Indian IKEA store in Hyderabad means a lot to IKEA and we want to offer the best possible meeting with IKEA for the many Indian customers.
IKEA Retail India CEO Peter Betzel

IKEA’s first store in India is located at Hitec City in Hyderabad, Telangana. Featuring an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, it is expected to provide 1,000 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect ones with half of its employees being women.
