After ED Books Siddaramaiah For Money Laundering In MUDA Case, His Wife Offers To Surrender Plots For Family's Dignity

After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) booked Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land case, his wife B M Parvathi offered to surrender the 14 plots.

Allegedly, 3.16 acres of land outside Mysuru, gifted to Siddaramaiah’s wife by her brother in 2010, were exchanged for 14 housing sites in a prime Mysuru locality under a 50:50 exchange program introduced during the BJP’s tenure.

The allocation of 14 MUDA housing plots to the Karnataka CM’s wife in 2021 is said to have caused a loss of Rs 56 crore to the state. Now, Parvathi has expressed the wish to surrender these plots.

She also wants to return the compensation plots by canceling the deeds of 14 plots executed in her favour by the MUDA and handing over the possession of the plots back to the MUDA.

Parvathi urged the MUDA to take necessary steps in this regard 'as soon as possible' as she considers family's dignity more important than wealth, sites, or land.

She also claimed that she has not discussed this decision with anyone including her husband and mentioned Siddaramaiah's moral record throughout is political career.

The Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) filed against Siddaramaiah on Monday (30 September) is under the charges of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The Karnataka Lokayukta police recently charged Siddaramaiah, his wife, his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and former landowner Devaraju with corruption, cheating, and forgery.

Taking cognisance of the Lokayukta First Information Report (FIR), the ED also registered the case, which could lead to the attachment of properties belonging to Siddaramaiah and his family.
