Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday (14 May) left Bengaluru to campaign for Congress candidate Rahul Gandhi in Rae Bareli.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is also set to campaign in Rae Bareli and Amethi tomorrow. Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel is already there in Rae Bareli as an observer.

Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is campaigning vigorously in Rae Bareli. Today she was in Amethi, a Congress bastion earlier which the party lost in 2019.

Notably, no such vigour was seen in earlier phases of elections as almost half of Uttar Pradesh has already voted with polling complete in 39 Parliamentary Constituencies.

Prior to filing the nomination in Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi held a single public rally in Uttar Pradesh, for Danish Ali Amroha. Similarly, Priyanka campaigned only in two seats -- Fatehpur Sikri and Saharanpur.

Similarly, Mallikarjun Kharge also held rallies only today in Uttar Pradesh, other than Rae Bareli. Today he campaigned in Maharajganj and Bansgaon.

Rae Bareli is set to got to polls on 20 May in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav will also campaign for Rahul Gandhi.
