Amaravati Capital Works, Missile Test Range And Highways In Focus As PM Modi Set To Launch Rs 58,000 Crore Infra Projects In Andhra On 2 May

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Amaravati on Friday (2 May) to unveil a massive infrastructure push in Andhra Pradesh, inaugurating, dedicating and laying foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 58,000 crore.

The visit will include inauguration of seven national highway projects in Andhra Pradesh, including widening of various sections of national highways, construction of road over bridge and subway among others.

These projects will further enhance road safety, create employment opportunities, provide seamless connectivity to religious and tourist places like Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Malakonda and Udayagiri Fort among others, according to a PMO release.

In the railway sector, the Prime Minister will dedicate key connectivity and capacity expansion works, including the doubling of the Bugganapalle Cement Nagar – Panyam rail line and a third line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada stations.

He will also lay the foundation stone for six additional NH projects and one railway project, including widening of various sections of National highways, construction of an elevated corridor, half cloverleaf interchanges, Road over bridge, and construction of a Rail Over Rail line between Guntakal West and Mallappa gate stations to bypass freight trains and reduce congestion at the Guntakal Junction.

A major highlight will be the launch of core capital development works in Amaravati:

  • Construction of Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, and housing for over 5,200 families (Rs 11,240 crore),

  • Trunk infrastructure and flood mitigation projects featuring a 320 km world-class transport network with underground utilities and advanced flood management systems (Rs 17,400 crore),

  • Road infrastructure under the Land Pooling Scheme, covering 1,281 km with with central medians, cycle tracks, and integrated utilities across the capital city of Amaravati (Rs 20,400 crore).

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for the Missile Test Range at Nagayalanka (Rs 1,460 crore), which will house a launch centre, technical instrumentation facilities, indigenous radars, telemetry and Electro-Optical systems, boosting India’s strategic defence capabilities.

Another key development will be the foundation stone laying for PM Ekta Mall at Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam, intended to support the Make in India initiative, promote One District One Product, generate employment opportunities, empower rural artisans, and enhance the market presence of indigenous products.
