Amit Shah Does Not Dismiss Idea Of Caste Census; Says 'One Nation, One Election' Will Be Implemented By Modi 3.0

When asked about the possibility of conducting a caste census, a major demand from the Opposition, Union Home Minister Amit Shah did not dismiss the idea on Tuesday (17 September).

However, he expressed that the long-delayed Census, pending since 2021 would commence "very soon" and the decision on the caste census would be made public then.

He reiterated the Modi government's commitment to the "One Nation, One Election" initiative and said it would be implemented during the current NDA government’s term.

According to The Indian Express, there have been concerns about the allies' stance on the "One Nation, One Election" proposal, but BJP leaders assured that all partners support this reform.

Highlighting India’s progress, Shah praised the country’s foreign policy, stating that for the first time since Independence, the world witnessed an Indian government with a firm stance in global affairs.

Under Modi’s leadership, Shah noted, over 60 crore Indians have gained access to housing, toilets, gas, clean water, electricity, free rations, and healthcare services up to Rs 5 lakh.

He expressed the government’s goal to ensure every citizen owns a house by the next election. He also emphasised the success of the "Make in India" initiative, which was initially met with skepticism.
