Indian dairy giant Amul has been named as the sponsor for both the USA and South African cricket teams in the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to begin in June, as per a report by The Economic Times.

This partnership signifies Amul's commitment to expanding and popularising cricket in the USA, where Amul milk is now available.

The USA team, making its tournament debut as a co-host, will play its first match against Canada on 1 June.

Amul was announced as the lead arm sponsor for the USA national cricket team at a ceremony in New York.

Amul has a history of sponsoring cricket teams, including the Netherlands, and its collaboration with the South African team further strengthens its presence in the global cricketing arena.

Venu Pisike, chairman of USA Cricket, expressed excitement about partnering with Amul, highlighting their shared commitment to excellence.

Jayen Mehta, managing director of Amul, emphasised that Amul Milk would support the USA team's pursuit of success.

Amul's association with the South African team extends back to the 2019 ODI series and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Mehta expressed pride in strengthening their partnership with the Proteas and wished them success in the T20 World Cup.

Mehta also announced that GCMMF, the parent company of Amul, would be launching four variants of milk in the USA market to cater to the Indian diaspora and Asian population.

The company also plans to introduce fresh milk products like paneer, curd, and buttermilk in the future.

GCMMF's turnover in the 2022-23 fiscal year was around Rs 55,000 crore, marking an 18.5 per cent increase from the previous year. The company is already exporting dairy products to about 50 countries.
