Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set a June 2025 deadline for the completion of the Rs 611-crore integrated terminal building at Gannavaram Airport (Vijayawada Airport).
The announcement came during a review meeting on airport expansion efforts, held at his residence in Undavalli, and attended by Union Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu.
According to an official statement, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of timely completion for the new terminal, designed to support the region’s growing air traffic and improve connectivity.
Officials stated that approximately 60 per cent of the terminal project has been completed, while the air traffic control (ATC) tower, costing Rs 85 crore, stands at 52 per cent completion, reports The Hindu.
In addition to the airport expansion, the Chief Minister unveiled plans for the construction of five new airstrips across the state.
These airstrips are slated for Mulapeta, Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Tadepalligudem, and a fifth location between Anantapur and Tadipatri, aiming to enhance connectivity and support regional economic growth.
