Days after the attack on a Hindu temple in Canada's Brampton, an Indian Consulate event at Brampton Triveni Mandir was canceled due to 'Extremely High and Imminent Threat Level of violent protests.'
Notably, the 3 November attack also happened during an Indian Consulate event when pro-Khalistani protesters entered the premises of the Hindu Sabha Mandir temple and started beating people.
At that time, the Indian High Commission said, "Organisation of further scheduled consular camps will be contingent on security arrangements made for them by local authorities."
Last week, the Indian High Commission decided to cancel certain planned consular camps after being denied even a "minimum security protection" by Canadian security agencies.
Now, the Life Certificate Event scheduled at Brampton Triveni Mandir by the Indian Consulate on 17 November has been canceled due to official intelligence from Peel Regional Police.
The temple committee apologised to all community members dependent on the event and expressed grief that Canadians now feel unsafe coming to Hindu Temples in Canada.
"We call on Peel Police to address the threats being circulated against Brampton Triveni Mandir and provide security guarantees to the Canadian Hindu Community and the general public," it added.
