Arvind Kejriwal Gets Seventh ED Summons In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, asking him to appear for questioning on 26 February 26 in connection with the liquor policy case.

This comes after Kejriwal had earlier this week skipped the sixth summons issued by the ED.

The agency had asked Kejriwal to appear before it on 19 February but the AAP chief skipped the summons.

Reiterating its stance, the AAP  declared the summons as "illegal" and asserted that the matter is now before the court.

In a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emphasised that the ED had approached the court itself.

The party suggested that instead of repeatedly issuing summonses, the ED should await the court's decision on the validity of the matter, NDTV reported.

The central investigative agency has asked him to appear on 19 February after Kejriwal skipped the five summons issued earlier. A complaint was also filed by the ED at a Delhi court against Kejriwal for skipping the summons.

The Court had summoned him on 17 February.

Kejriwal appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court on 17 February via videoconferencing, citing his occupancy with the ongoing budget session and Motion of Confidence.

The matter has been now listed for 16 March as Kejriwal's counsel said that the Delhi CM will appear physically for the next hearing.
