Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, has once again escalated rhetoric against India, accusing New Delhi of attacking Pakistan twice without provocation and describing it as a “troubling absence of strategic foresight", reported India Today.
He also warned of decisive response to any future Indian aggression,
Speaking at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi on Saturday (28 June), Munir called Pakistan a "net regional stabiliser."
He claimed Islamabad had responded "resolutely" to "unprovoked" Indian military aggression, stating, "Despite provocations, Pakistan displayed restraint and maturity, reaffirming its commitment to regional peace."
Munir further alleged that India was deliberately creating regional tension as Pakistan approached close to eliminating terrorism.
Invoking Kashmir issue, he stated, "at such a time, we must remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers who are struggling against India’s illegal occupation."
He added, “Pakistan is a strong advocate for a just resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.”
This latest speech on Kashmir comes weeks after Munir’s earlier incendiary remarks declaring, “Kashmir is our jugular vein; it will remain our jugular vein; we will not forget it".
Days after Munir's remarks, Pakistan-backed terrorists killed over two dozen tourists in Kashmir's Pahalgam on 22 April.
India responded by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and launching Operation Sindoor, which targeted and destroyed terror launchpads inside Pakistan.
