Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Saturday (21 September) took oath as the eighth Chief Minister of Delhi.
Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena administered the oath of office to Atishi at the Raj Niwas.
She succeeded AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned from the post earlier this week after being released on bail in the liquor policy case.
Along with Atishi, five cabinet ministers -- four from the previous ministry and a new face -- were also sworn in during the ceremony.
Atishi’s new council of ministers includes Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and new entrant Mukesh Ahlawat, a first-time MLA from Sultanpur Majra.
Atishi held 13 portfolios, including finance, revenue, PWD, power, and education in the outgoing Kejriwal government.
Earlier this week, while Kejriwal handed over his resignation as CM to Delhi LG Saxena, Atishi presented a letter stating she had been elected as the leader of the AAP Legislature Party.
Following this, Saxena proposed 21 September as the day for holding the CM-designate’s swearing-in ceremony to the President and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Atishi is reportedly the youngest leader to become Delhi's Chief Minister.
