Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on two-day state visit to India, less than two weeks after attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony.

This visit marks the first incoming bilateral state visit by a foreign leader following the formation of the new government.

During her visit, the Bangladeshi PM engaged in a bilateral discussion with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House in Delhi.

The leaders discussed a wide array of subjects, emphasising the robust and evolving relationship between the two nations.

In a joint press statement, PM Modi highlighted Bangladesh's strategic position in India's foreign policy.

"Bangladesh is situated at the confluence of our Neighbourhood First Policy, Act East Policy, Vision Sagar, and Indo-Pacific Vision," PM Modi said.

He lauded the completion of several noteworthy projects between the two countries, such as trade in Indian Rupees and the world's longest river cruise on the Ganges River.

The leaders also discussed defence cooperation, including defense production, modernisation of armed forces, and collaboration in counter-terrorism and border management.

Hasina expressed profound appreciation for India's role as a major neighbour, trusted friend, and regional partner, citing the longstanding ties between the two nations.

Hasina invited PM Modi to visit Bangladesh to "witness what all we have done and plan to do".

India and Bangladesh exchanged MoUs and agreements in the presence of PM Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, at Hyderabad House in Delhi.
