The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a fresh summons to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav in connection with a railway land-for-jobs scam case.
According to NDTV, Yadav is asked to appear before the ED on 5 January.
Having been called to appear on 22 December previously, the 34-year-old had evaded the summons, brushing it off as a routine matter.
Simultaneously, Tejashwi Yadav's father and RJD chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav, have been called to depose on 27 December at the ED headquarters in Delhi.
The alleged scam dates back to the period when Lalu Prasad Yadav served as the railway minister in the UPA-1 government.
The accusation involves the years 2004 to 2009 when several individuals allegedly received Group "D" category jobs in various railway zones.
The appointments purportedly occurred after these individuals transferred land to the family members of Mr. Prasad and to a connected company named A K Infosystems Private Limited.
Tejashwi Yadav, who termed the ED notice as routine, faces renewed scrutiny as he is summoned again in the ongoing investigation.
As the investigation progresses, the Enforcement Directorate aims to shed light on the intricate details of the railway land-for-jobs scam, bringing forth accountability and transparency in matters of public trust and governance.
