Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced the finalisation of design plans for the comprehensive redevelopment of the revered Jagat Janani Maa Janaki Temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district.
Sharing images of the design on X, the Chief Minister confirmed that a dedicated trust has also been constituted to ensure swift implementation of the project.
“I am very happy to inform you that the design of the grand temple and other structures for the holistic development of Jagat Janani Maa Janaki’s birthplace, Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi, is now ready, which is being shared with you. A trust has also been formed for this so that the construction work can be expedited,” Kumar posted on X.
The proposed design features a majestic 151-foot high temple structure, broad walkways, and lush green landscaping, aiming to enhance the spiritual and aesthetic experience for visiting devotees.
Punaura Dham, regarded as the birthplace of Goddess Sita, holds immense significance among followers of the Hindu faith.
The initiative gains further traction following the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, after which devotees from Janaki Temple had offered sacred gifts during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in January 2024.
Highlighting connectivity challenges, Kumar reiterated his previous appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking expedited completion of the Ram-Janaki Marg linking Ayodhya and Sitamarhi.
He also requested the launch of a Vande Bharat train between the two religious sites.
