BJP Announces First List Of 71 Bihar Election Candidates; Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary To Contest From Tarapur

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of candidates for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, naming 71 contenders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, reported The Indian Express.

Chaudhary will contest the Tarapur Assembly constituency, previously won by JD-U’s Rajeev Kumar Singh in the 2021 bypolls.

Sharing the Deputy Chief Minister’s position, Minister of Agriculture Vijay Kumar Sinha will defend his Lakhisarai seat. The party has also asked Minister of Road Construction Nitin Nabin to retain the Bankipur seat.

BJP allocated Bhagalpur and Begusarai tickets to Rohit Pandey and Kundan Kumar, respectively. Pandey had lost Bhagalpur to Congress legislative party leader Ajeet Kumar in the 2020 elections.

A total of nine women feature in BJP’s first list. Among them, Bihar Minister for Animal and Fisheries Resources Renu Devi will contest Bettiah. Others include Sweety Singh (Kishanganj), Gayatri Devi (Parihar), Devanti Yadav (Narpatganj), Rama Nishad (Aurai), Nisha Singh (Pranpur), Kavita Devi (Korha), Aruna Devi (Warsaliganj), and Shreyasi Singh (Jamui).

The party’s candidate list also includes Pramod Kumar Sinha (Raxaul), Shyambabu Prasad Yadav (Pipra), Rana Randhir Singh (Madhuban), Pawan Jaiswal (Dhaka), Anil Kumar Ram (Bathnaha), Sunil Kumar Pintu (Sitamarhi), Vinod Narayan Jha (Benipatti), Sujeet Paswan (Rajnagar), Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu (Chhatapur), and others, covering major constituencies across Bihar.
