The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (19 March) launched a sharp attack on the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government, citing a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that flagged irregularities in the health sector, reported The Hindu.
BJP national spokesperson Tuhin Sinha accused the state government of failing to account for Rs 19,125.88 crore, with 5,209 utilisation certificates still unsubmitted.
The party also alleged that the ruling coalition had been engaging in appeasement politics.
He particularly targeted the Congress party, stating that the Health Ministry had always been under its control.
Addressing a press conference, Sinha listed several other alleged irregularities, including shortage of medicines, and highlighted key vacancies in the departments,
Further, he accused the state government of issuing an order because of which the coverage of the Ayushman Bharat programme would reduce drastically.
The BJP’s attack also extended beyond financial mismanagement.
Referring to a violent clash in Giridih district during Holi celebrations on 14 March, Sinha alleged that the state government was allowing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to settle in parts of Jharkhand.
He further claimed that terrorist activities were on the rise in Santhal Pargana, stating that several terror modules were being established in the region.
The issue of demographic changes in Jharkhand was also raised, with Sinha pointing out that the Jharkhand High Court had ordered the formation of a panel to study the reasons.
However, he accused the state government of deliberate non-cooperation, preventing the panel from being set up.
“However, the panel has not yet been set up due to non-cooperation of the State government...does Heman Soren want to turn the land of Birsa Munda into that of Aurangzeb?,” he asked.
