With the Election Commission announcing the Lok Sabha poll schedule today (16 March), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the 'biggest festival of democracy' has begun.

Taking to X, the PM exuded confidence in the BJP-led NDA's preparedness for the election, and said "#PhirEkBaarModiSarkar".

"The biggest festival of democracy has started. The Election Commission has announced the dates of 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP-NDA is fully prepared to contest these elections. On the basis of our track record of good governance and public service, we will go among the people. I have full confidence that we will get full affection and blessings of 140 crore family members and more than 96 crore voters for the third consecutive time. #PhirEkBaarModiSarkar," PM Modi said.

In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister also hit out at the erstwhile Congress-led central government.

"When we took over the reins of the country 10 years ago, the country and its citizens were suffering from the misgovernance of the INDI Alliance. There was no sector left untouched by scams and policy paralysis. The country was in the depths of despair and the world had also stopped trusting India. We brought the country out of that situation and today India is progressing rapidly," PM Modi said.

"In our third term, there’s much work to be done. The last decade was about filling gaps created by those who ruled for seventy years. It was also about instilling a spirit of self-confidence that yes, India can become prosperous and self-reliant. We will build on this spirit," PM Modi said.

Attacking the Opposition, PM Modi said that it lacks both issues and direction.

"Their only agenda remains - to insult us and engage in vote bank politics. The public is now rejecting their dynastic mentality and conspiracies to divide society. Due to their track record of corruption, they are unable to meet the people's gaze. The public will never accept such individuals," he said.

"In the NDA government's third term, the fight against poverty and corruption will intensify. Our efforts towards social justice will increase further. We will rapidly make India the world's third-largest economy. Our efforts to realize the dreams of the youth will advance with even greater strength," PM Modi said.

Prime Minister Modi stated that the next five years are crucial for India. He mentioned that during this period, a roadmap for India's development for the next thousand years will be prepared.

He emphasised that this time will focus on India's overall development, inclusive prosperity, and its role as a global leader.

"I receive immense strength from the blessings of my fellow countrymen, especially the poor, farmers, youth, and women. When my countrymen say, "I am part of Modi's family," it motivates me to work even harder for the development of India. We will collectively strive for a developed India and will achieve this goal. Now is the time, the right time!," he added.
