Delhi Minister Atishi attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (18 May), suggesting that the ruling party is using Swati Maliwal by blackmailing her over an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case.

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has alleged that she was "slapped seven to eight times and kicked in the stomach" by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal secretary Bibhav Kumar.

On this matter, Atishi said that in the Swati Maliwal assault case, the BJP is using the same tricks it used against other opposition leaders to get them into the party.

"There is a case against Swati Maliwal by the ACB, FIR has been made and probe is underway and using this, Swati Maliwal was made to hatch this conspiracy and was used as a pawn," Atishi said.

She asked for an impartial investigation to reveal Swati Maliwal was in contact with which BJP leaders, what they talked about on the phone and WhatsApp.

In a press conference yesterday, Atishi referred to a 52-second video of the confrontation between Maliwal and the staff at Kejriwal's residence and suggested that the BJP had orchestrated a plan to target Kejriwal.

Hitting back at AAP, Swati Maliwal, in a post on X, alleged without naming anyone that the "political hitman", has begun the attempts to protect himself by orchestrating supportive tweets and releasing out-of-context videos.

She argued that no one would record a video while assaulting someone and called for an examination of the CCTV footage from inside the CM's residence to reveal the truth.
