'Bring Pahalgam Attack Perpetrators To Justice': Putin In Phone Call To PM Modi, Extends 'Full Support' To India

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (5 May) and strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed on social media.

According to the MEA, Putin conveyed 'deepest' condolences on the loss of 26 innocent lives and expressed 'full support to India in the fight against terrorism.'

Putin also emphasised that the perpetrators of the 'heinous attack and their supporters must be brought to justice' amid India's actions against Pakistan.

"Both leaders reiterated their commitment to further deepen Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership," the post concluded, adding that Putin has been invited by PM Modi for the Annual Summit to be held in India later in the year.

The Russian embassy's summary revealed that Putin characterised the terrorist attack as "barbaric". Both leaders underscored the necessity for an "uncompromising fight" against all forms of terrorism, as per the summary.

The statement also confirmed that the president has accepted the Indian PM's invitation to attend the yearly India-Russia summit. Putin was one of the first global leaders to denounce the terror attack on 22 April that resulted in the death of 26 civilians.
