The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday (5 December) announced that services on the Blue Line would experience disruptions all day because of a cable theft incident between the Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar stations.
The DMRC took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that commuters might experience delays on one of the most frequented lines.
"Train services on Blue Line (Dwarka Sector 21 - Noida Electronic City /Vaishali ) are being regulated today since morning due to prima facie what appears to be a case of theft and damage to signaling cables caused by some thieves/miscreants between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar Metro stations. As a result, trains are running at restricted speed in this section resulting into bunching of trains. However, normal train services are available on rest of the section of Blue Line," the DMRC said.
The Corporation clarified in a statement that the problem would likely be addressed after operating hours, which would result in reduced train speeds throughout the day.
Consequently, services on this segment are operating at a reduced speed, leading to delays.
The DMRC has advised passengers to adjust their travel plans, taking into account the extra time needed for their journey.
To address the issue while minimizing inconvenience during the day, DMRC stated that “...the necessary repair will be undertaken during night hours after the closing of revenue service.”
The Blue Line, which serves as a link between Dwarka Sector 21, Noida City Centre, and Vaishali, is experiencing disruptions.
These interruptions are expected to affect a large number of daily travelers until the service returns to its normal functioning.
