In response to India's recent military action under Operation Sindoor, Kobbi Shoshani, Consul General of Israel to Midwest India, Mumbai, lauded the move and emphasised its global significance.
He stated, "...It's a clear message from India to the rest of the world. Also, from your friend Israel, it is essential to send a message to the terrorist. That was an act of self-defence, and I'm very proud of this operation..."
Referring to the operation’s name, he added, "The symbolic name (#OperationSindoor) that I understand, that unofficially or officially, I don't know, Prime Minister Modi gave the name, it's touched my heart as well..."
Earlier, Israel had voiced strong support for India following the Indian Army's precision strikes on terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
On Wednesday (7 May), Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, posted on X: “Israel supports India’s right for self-defense. Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent.”
India initiated 'Operation Sindoor', a major military operation targeting nine locations linked to terrorist groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
India strongly condemned the Hamas-led terror attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023, and voiced deep concern over the civilian casualties that followed in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
