"Muslims Made OBCs Overnight By Congress": PM Modi Says Undivided Andhra Pradesh Was Made Laboratory Of Appeasement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (30 April) attacked Congress for giving reservations of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) to Muslims during a public address in Telangana's Zahirabad.

Modi said, "The undivided Andhra Pradesh gave record number of MPs and MLAs in 2004 and 2009. Instead of worrying about SCs, STs and OBCs, the Congress started looting their rights. Congress made undivided AP laboratory of appeasement."

The PM referred to giving reservations to Muslims from existing SC, ST and OBC quota. He also mentioned 26 castes of the Lingayat and Maratha communities are demanding to be included in the OBC list in Telangana.

Modi said, "It is not acceptable to the Congress to include the Lingayat, Maratha, and the 26 castes into the OBC list, but Congress makes Muslims OBCs raaton-raat (overnight)."

This comes after National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) slammed the Karnataka Congress government's decision to categorise the entire Muslim community as a backward caste for reservation purposes in the state.

Modi alleged that Congress hates the Constitution and hence it kept that Constitution copy in cupboard which had scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata and break that link with our heritage.

He added that this paap (crime) was done by country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and then Yuvraj's (Rahul Gandhi) grandmother Indira Gandhi shattered the Constitution by imposing Emergency.

"Third paap was done when Shehzada's father (Rajiv Gadnhi) became Prime Minister. He tried to bring a law which faced opposition from media and BJP, and he was forced to repeal the law," Modi said.
