The jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have entered a new battlefield against a new and unseen enemy.
Known for their preparedness in the fight against Maoists and other enemies of India, the jawans are now weaponising the nation's fight against the Coronavirus.
They are pitching in in the production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and masks.
According to this report, the PPE kits being prepared by the CRPF jawans are being distributed to hospitals and to police personnel, who are among the frontline heroes of India's war against Covid-19.
The jawans are preparing kits day and night at a CRPF centre in Delhi's RK Puram area.
The report quotes an official as saying that on a daily basis, 300 to 400 PPE kits and thousands of masks are being prepared. These masks are being sent to different hospitals across the country as well as to jawans manning work in the fight against the spread of the virus.
Dr Yogendra Singh from CRPF told Zee News that the masks will be made available to hospitals that are fighting Covid-19 as per their demand and needs. He said that CRPF is in touch with hospitals and will respond to their needs promptly in different districts.
The World Health Organisation spoke about the global shortage of PPE last month even as India is scaling up its production of PPE.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
