Delhi Airport's Terminal 2 will reopen tomorrow (26 October) after a five-month closure for extensive upgrades, with operations commencing from the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

The terminal will handle 120 daily domestic flights operated by IndiGo and Air India from the intervening night of 25-26 October.

Union Minister for Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha are scheduled to visit the upgraded terminal today (25 October).

The first flight to arrive will be IndiGo flight 6E 2058 from Lucknow at 12.25 am on Sunday, while the first departure will be 6E 2343 to Pune at 2.15 am.

The four-decade-old terminal, which was closed in April after Terminal 1 became fully operational, has been completely transformed with cutting-edge technology.

The airport has introduced six passenger boarding bridges equipped with autonomous docking, a first for India, which will automatically align with aircraft doors to reduce turnaround times.

Passengers will benefit from the Self Baggage Drop facility, which enables passengers to have complete control over their journey and will reduce wait times significantly.

Air India announced that 60 of its 180 daily domestic flights will operate from T2, with all flights in the AI1XXX series moving to the upgraded terminal while Air India Express domestic operations will shift to Terminal 1.

The terminal features upgraded HVAC systems, advanced fire safety measures, and enhanced accessibility for passengers with disabilities. The refurbished terminal also includes a new high-resolution flight information display, redesigned signage for better accessibility, improved road connectivity, and overhauled apron areas that have been in use for over 40 years.

The reopening will help ease congestion across Delhi Airport's three terminals and streamline passenger flow during the busy winter travel season.
