Delhi Police has formally requested Meta's cooperation in accessing the social media accounts of the six individuals apprehended in connection with the Parliament security breach case, as reported by The New Indian Express.
This request extends to acquiring details about the now-deleted Facebook page 'Bhagat Singh Fan Club', where the suspects reportedly connected.
Additionally, the police have obtained bank account information for all accused parties to investigate the potential receipt of funds for orchestrating the 13 December incident.
Law enforcement teams have approached the families of the accused to gather bank account details, seizing bank passbooks from the residences of Neelam Devi and Sagar Sharma in Haryana's Jind and Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow respectively.
The Delhi Police Counter Intelligence Unit specifically reached out to Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, seeking access to the social media accounts of the accused.
They have also requested details about the 'Bhagat Singh Fan Page', such as the number of members, among other specifics.
The creation of this page is attributed to the accused and was later deleted.
Meta has been urged to share WhatsApp chats, considering that the mobile phones of the accused have been damaged.
Lalit Jha, identified as the 'mastermind' behind the conspiracy, allegedly threw his mobile phone and destroyed others' phones in Rajasthan's Nagaur, where he fled after the incident.
The police have recovered fragments of broken and burnt phones, which are being examined by the forensic department to potentially recover data.
Delhi Police have arrested six individuals — Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, Neelam Devi, Lalit Jha , and Mahesh Kumawat — in connection with the Parliament security breach case.
They face charges under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Sagar and Manoranjan breached the Lok Sabha chamber on 13 December, releasing yellow smoke and shouting slogans before being subdued.
Amol and Neelam released coloured smoke outside the Parliament premises around the same time. Lalit recorded the act and fled to Nagaur, while Mahesh and another accused, Kailash, allegedly arranged his stay. Lalit and Mahesh later surrendered in Delhi.
The accused claimed to be inspired by Bhagat Singh's ideology, intending to convey a message to the government through their actions.
