Ahead of World Environment Day, Delhi aims to tackle pollution through 18 focused action points spanning dust control, vehicular emissions, waste management, and innovation, NDTV reported.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday (3 June) unveiled Delhi's comprehensive Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025, titled “Shuddh Hawa Sabka Adhikar – Pradushan Par Zordar Prahar.”

Dust mitigation will involve 1,000 water sprinklers, 140 anti-smog guns, 70 mechanical sweepers, and mist sprays in 13 pollution hotspots. High-rise buildings over 3,000 sq m, including malls and hotels, will be required to install anti-smog guns.

To tackle construction pollution, a new AI-powered portal will monitor projects over 500 sq m, with geo-tagging, compliance alerts, and penalties for violations. A new 1,000 TPD C&D waste plant at Tehkhand will aid recycling efforts.

From 1 July, 2025, End-of-Life Vehicles will be barred from Delhi via ANPR-equipped points. From 1 November, only BS-VI, CNG, and EV commercial vehicles (registered outside Delhi) will be allowed entry. Delhi will also add 5,004 electric buses and 18,000 public EV charging stations.

Landfill pollution will be addressed through biomining of legacy waste and new waste-to-energy and bio-gas plants. Segregation at source will be enforced, and electric heaters will be provided to discourage winter waste burning.

“Green Delhi, Healthy Delhi is not a slogan, it's our mission,” CM Gupta said, stressing that air pollution is a year-round health crisis. She also announced a cloud seeding pilot with IIT Kanpur to induce artificial rain and suppress dust.

Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the plan is a “one-year action framework targeting pollution at its roots, dust, vehicular emissions, and waste.
