Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called Ayodhya the 'solution to the clashes going around the world' after inaugurating the Ramayan Mela at Ram Katha Park on Thursday (5 December).

"Once again Ayodhya is moving ahead with a new identity as a global city spiritually and culturally," Adityanath said recalling the 22 January inauguration of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.

"Anyone who does not have reverence and dedication for Lord Ram and Mata Janaki, no matter how dear they are to you, should be abandoned like a staunch enemy," he added referring to a slogan of the 1990s- 'Jo Ram ka nahi, humare kisi kaam ka nahi'.

Praising Lord Ram, Adityanath said, "Lord Ram brought people together... If we did not let the invaders' policy to divide and rule work, the country would not have become a slave and our pilgrimage centres would not have been vandalised."

The UP CM added, "Their (invaders') genes still exist, who divide people on the basis of caste. Remember what Babur's man did in Ayodhya 500 years ago. The same thing happened in Sambhal, and the same is happening in Bangladesh."

The remarks come amid the communal tensions in Sambhal after violence over the court-ordered survey of Jama Masjid and the continued attacks on Hindus and the arrest of a Hindu monk in Bangladesh.

"The nature of the three events and their DNA is the same. If someone believes that this is happening in Bangladesh, then the same elements are waiting here too to divide you and inflict harm on you," Adityanath said.

The UP CM quoted Dr Ram Manohar Lohia as saying that a true Samajwadi is free from the attachment to property and children and attacked the Samajwadi Party (SP) for becoming a dynastic party.

"Without the protection of criminals and goons, their condition becomes like a fish struggling without water. They do politics in the name of Lohia but are unable to adopt even one of his ideals," he attacked further.
