After meeting West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, the woman victim of whipping and assault by local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader expressed her distrust over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

A video had gone viral in which local TMC leader Tajimul Islam, known as JCB was seen beating a woman in the Lakhipur gram panchayat area of Chopra block in Uttar Dinajpur district.

Taking note of the incident, Governor Bose decided to meet the victim and ultimately met her in Cooch Behar on Tuesday (2 July) morning.

After meeting the Governor, the woman expressed confidence that she would get justice. However, she asserted that she does not trust Mamata Banerjee and the West Bengal Police.

The woman also confirmed that she is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and those who beat her after stripping belonged to the TMC.

On Monday, the Governor had sought report from Banerjee on the flogging of a couple. A case was registered by the police on Sunday.

As the video circulated on social media, police arrested Tajimul Islam and brought him to the Islampur police station. It was alleged that the couple were in an extramarital relationship.
