DRDO Guest House Manager In Rajasthan's Jaisalmer Arrested For Allegedly Spying For Pakistan’s ISI

Rajasthan’s CID Intelligence arrested Mahendra Prasad, a contractual manager at the DRDO Guest House near the Chandan Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer, on Tuesday (12 August) for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI, reported Hindustan Times.

Prasad, 32, hails from Palyun in Almora district, Uttarakhand.

Authorities accuse him of sending confidential and strategic information about India, including movements of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers, to Pakistani handlers via social media.

Vishnukant, Inspector General of Police CID (Security), Rajasthan, Jaipur, stated that in preparation for the approaching state-level Independence Day festivities, Rajasthan CID Intelligence has been aggressively monitoring any anti-national and subversive acts carried out by foreign agents within the state.

During surveillance, investigators discovered Prasad’s communication with Pakistani intelligence operatives.

They allege he passed sensitive details about the movement of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers visiting the firing range for missile and weapons testing to handlers in Pakistan.

Following the discovery, multiple intelligence agencies interrogated him at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur.

A technical examination of his mobile phone reportedly confirmed the espionage activities.

Authorities registered a case against Prasad under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, on 12 August. They will present him before court on Wednesday (13 August) to seek remand for further interrogation.

The arrest comes as security agencies intensify vigilance ahead of Independence Day, focusing on thwarting any foreign-backed threats.
