Eleven Years Of ‘Make In India’: PM Modi Pushes For Atmanirbhar Bharat With ‘Chips To Ships’ Vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (25 September) reaffirmed India’s commitment to Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat while inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS-2025) in Greater Noida, reported The Times Of India.

He highlighted India’s resilience amid global disruptions and stressed the need for self-reliance to secure long-term growth.

“Despite the global disruptions and uncertainties, India’s growth is attractive. Disruptions don’t hinder us, but even in those circumstances, we look for new directions,” PM Modi said.

He added, “Our resolve and mantra is Atmanirbhar Bharat. Nothing can be more helpless than being dependent on others.”

Emphasising the government’s ambition to manufacture everything from "chips to ships,” PM Modi said, “The country must become self-reliant and every product that can be made in India should be made here.”

He also announced that the production of AK-203 rifles in Uttar Pradesh with Russian collaboration, as part of India’s expanding defence sector.

PM Modi credited India’s fintech platforms like UPI and Aadhaar for driving inclusive growth, saying both big retailers and small vendors equally benefit from these innovations.

He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh now produces 55 per cent of India’s mobile phones, underscoring the state’s manufacturing strength.

Highlighting progress in digital commerce, he said around 25 lakh sellers and service providers currently supply goods to the government through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, empowering even small shopkeepers.

Russia participated as the partner country in the trade show, with more than 2,750 exhibitors showcasing products and services.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the Centre’s “next-generation GST reforms,” calling them a “Diwali gift” that boosted markets, benefiting farmers, traders, women, and the middle class.
