Indian-American entrepreneur and author Vivek Wadhwa has slammed Elon Musk's decision of choosing China over India for the Tesla's electric vehicle manufacturing operations.

Slamming the billionaire, Vivek Wadhwa wrote that "Elon is going to be the biggest loser" by picking China over India.

Wadhwa said that he had advised Elon Musk to explore manufacturing in India instead of China.

He had cautioned Musk that China would not be a favourable environment and could potentially lead to Tesla being taken advantage of.

Wadhwa further said that Tesla would have "dominated" the market by now if Musk had moved manufacturing to India earlier.

"A few years ago, I exchanged emails with him [Elon Musk] about the risks in China. I warned him they would rob him blind and urged him to consider moving manufacturing to India instead, where he would have dominated the market by now," Wadhwa wrote in a post on X.

Wadhwa's remarks come after Elon Musk cancelled his planned visit to India last month and said that he has postponed it due to unforeseen tasks at Tesla.

During the visit, Elon Musk was rset to meet PM Modi and reportedly announce investment of up to $3 billion in an EV manufacturing plant in India.

Instead, Musk made a surprise visit to China shortly thereafter, and reportedly secured in-principle approval for Tesla's driver assistance system.
