After Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra left Madhya Pradesh, several senior Congress leaders left the party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (9 March).
The most notable of them are former Union Minister in Manmohan Singh and Narasimha Rao cabinets, Suresh Pachouri and former Dhar MP Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi.
The other leader to join is former Indore-1 MLA Sanjay Shukla, who was seen on friendly terms with the BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya around the 2023 Assembly elections.
Two other former MLAs, Depalpur's Vishal Patel and Pipariya's Arjun Paliya also joined BJP along with former Bhopal's Congress district president Kailash Mishra.
These leaders were welcomed in the party by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president V D Sharma and former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
