National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla witnessed a momentous occasion on Friday (30 May) as the first-ever batch of 17 female cadets was among the 336 cadets who passed out of the academy.

A total of 1,341 Cadets, including 336 from the passing out course, participated in the Passing Out Parade (POP) at the iconic Khetarpal Parade Ground in Khadakwasla, Maharashtra on 30 May.

The reviewing officer of the POP was the Governor of Mizoram General (Retired) V K Singh.

The cadets passed "Antim Pag" at the tri-service training academy's Khetrpal Parade Ground in Khadakwasla to commemorate the graduation of the first coed batch.

The 148th course's parade was led by Academy cadet captain Udayveer Negi.

“This marks a historic milestone in our collective journey towards greater inclusivity and empowerment,” General Singh said during the event, Hindustan Times reported.

Calling the young women as “Nari Shakti", he said that they embody “not just women’s development but women-led development”.

Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi awarded degrees to 339 cadets in total, including the 17 female cadets.

Among these, 111 cadets were granted a BTech degree, 59 the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, 85 the Computer Science degree, and 84 the BSc degree.
