Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated action drama based on the puranic explanation of the defeat of the demon king Hiranyakashyap with modern storytelling, has secured its place as the 10th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.
In just 13 days, the Hindi version of the film has collected Rs 83.55 crore, driven by strong word-of-mouth and sustained interest from family audiences and devotees, the Times of India reported.
The film has shown impressive growth, particularly during its second weekend. It earned Rs 11.5 crore on the second Saturday and soared to Rs 17.5 crore on the second Sunday, marking one of the biggest weekend spikes for a Hindi animated film.
Weekday collections have also remained steady, reflecting strong audience retention.
Mahavatar Narsimha has benefited from minimal competition in its second week and is expected to maintain momentum before the release of major upcoming titles.
Its total India net collection across all languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, stands at Rs 112.8 crore.
The devotional and culturally rooted storyline has resonated widely, especially in South Indian markets, which have contributed significantly to the film’s nationwide success.
With Rs 88.72 crore being the next milestone to break into the top 9, Mahavatar Narsimha is expected to cross that mark within days.
The film still has a full week before the box office clash between War 2 and Coolie, giving it time to climb higher in the rankings.
Its performance so far has cemented its status as one of the most unexpected and successful animated releases of the year.
Mahavatar Narsimha holds a 9.4/10 rating on IMDb with over 24,000 user reviews.
The film is produced at a modest budget of 15 crore and a directional debut of Ashwin Kumar.
