The mortal remains of Major Aashish Dhonchak and Colonel Manpreet Singh, who lost their lives in a firefight with terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, have been brought to their respective hometowns for their final journey.

Major Dhonchak's remains were solemnly transported to his native place, Binjhol in Panipat, Haryana, while Colonel Singh's mortal remains were reverently brought to his residence in Mohali, Punjab.

The gunfight in the Kokorenag area of the valley resulted in the tragic loss of these two valiant army officers and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat, whose funeral was held on Thursday in Srinagar.

According to reports from a news wire agency, there has been a continuous outpouring of condolences and mourners visiting the homes of Major Dhonchak and Colonel Singh, reflecting the nation's profound respect and grief.

All three individuals, Major Dhonchak, Colonel Singh, and DSP Bhat, displayed immense courage during a critical firefight in the Garol area of Anantnag district on Wednesday morning.

Despite receiving medical treatment, they, unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries.

Major Dhonchak is survived by his wife and two-year-old daughter, while Colonel Singh, who hailed from a lineage of soldiers, leaves behind his mother, wife, two-year-old daughter, and six-year-old son.
