Goa showcased two flagship tourism projects at the State Tourism Ministers' Conference held in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on Tuesday (14 October) and Wednesday.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte presented plans for a state-of-the-art 20,000-seat mega performance arena at Mandrem in North Goa and a Lord Parshuram statue and museum at Loliem in Canacona, South Goa.
The two-day conference, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, brought together tourism ministers and senior officials from all States and Union Territories.
The mega performance arena at Mandrem will be designed as a multi-use venue to host large-scale international concerts, conventions, cultural shows and entertainment events.
The Lord Parshuram statue and museum, alongside the lifescape project in Canacona, will be developed as a cultural and spiritual landmark celebrating Goa's mythological heritage.
The initiative includes storytelling zones, scenic viewpoints and curated exhibits, serving as an anchor project for hinterland tourism development in South Goa.
The government had earlier announced plans to build an iconic bow and arrow structure in Mandrem to commemorate Lord Parshuram's legacy.
According to mythology, Lord Parshuram shot an arrow into the Arabian Sea and parted the waters, creating the state of Goa.
During the conference, Goa outlined its long-term vision for tourism growth built around sustainable and community-led development.
The state's strategy focuses on seven pillars: eco and nature-based tourism, Goan backwaters, heritage and culture, MICE tourism, adventure tourism, leisure and entertainment, and spiritual, wellness and medical tourism.
Officials said the presentation emphasised enhancing infrastructure, connectivity, cultural preservation, technology integration and visitor experience.
Minister Khaunte stated that Goa's tourism vision is rooted in regenerative practices, balancing economic growth with environmental preservation and community well-being.
Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, emphasised that the mega performance arena and Lord Parshuram statue and museum will bring economic opportunities to local communities and elevate Goa's position on the world tourism map.
