Govt Approves Upgradation, Reconstruction Of Several Highways Across Six States, Ladakh With Rs 6,100 Crore

The union government has approved highway projects worth more than Rs 6,100 crore on Thursday (1 April). These projects pertain to seven states and union territories, including Maharashtra, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Ladakh.

"Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has accorded approval to upgradation, rehabilitation and reconstruction of a number of projects, across the country," the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement.

These include Rs 2,801.33 crore worth projects in Maharashtra and Rs 1,259 crore worth projects in Assam.

According to the ministry, projects worth Rs 779 crore have been approved for Ladakh while Rs 810 crore projects have been approved for Andhra Pradesh.

In Rajasthan, land acquisition for the work of rehabilitation and up-gradation of Ras - Beawar section of NH-158 has been approved with a budget Rs 38 crore.

Construction of Railway Over Bridge at Matiapada on Puri - Konark Road with Rs 137 crore, construction of bypass on NH-59 for Berhampur town with Rs 196 crore and reconstruction of five submersible bridges replacing them with high level bridges on NH-326 (Malkangiri - Motu) with a budget Rs 154 crore are some projects approved in the state of Odisha.

In Telangana, stretch between Bapur - Chincholi - Tandur - Kodangal - Mahabubnagar and Gowrelly - Valigonda - Kothagudem has been declared National Highway and included under Bharatmala Pariyojana.

Also work for widening to four lane of Bilasipura - Guwahati road (NH-17), Parokhuwa - Dokmoka section of NH-29 and Tulungia - Jogighopa bridge have been approved in the state of Assam with a budget of around Rs 1,259 crore.
