Gujarat’s first Amrit Bharat Express is set to start its commercial operations on Sunday (5 October), following its flag-off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 27 September, the Indian Express reported.
The train will connect Udhna (near Surat) in Gujarat to Brahmapur in Odisha, providing safe, affordable, and long-distance travel across five states.
Covering a distance of 1,708 km, the train will pass through 22 districts across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
It will take approximately 33 hours to complete the journey, linking major towns and cities including Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Titlagarh, Raipur, Nagpur, and Bhusaval.
On the Brahmapur-Udhna route, the train will halt at key stations such as Palasa, Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Titlagarh, Raipur, Nagpur, Bhusaval, and Nandurbar. Additional stops include Srikakulam, Bobbili, Parvatipuram, Sungarpur Road, Muniguda, Kesinga, Kantabanji, Khariar Road, Mahasamund, Lakholi, Durg, Gondia, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Malkapur, Jalgaon, Dharangaon, Amalner, Sindkheda, Dondaicha, Navapur, Vyara, and Bardoli.
The train will run with 22 coaches: 11 General Second Class, eight Sleeper Class, two Second Class cum Luggage Vans, and one Pantry Car.
Fares are set at Rs 495 for the General class and Rs 795 for the Non-AC Sleeper class.
The weekly service will operate as follows:
Udhna to Brahmapur (Train No. 19021) will depart every Sunday at 07:10 hours, arriving the next day at 13:55 hours.
Brahmapur to Udhna (Train No. 19022) will depart every Monday at 23:45 hours, reaching Udhna at 08:45 hours the following morning.
Designed as a new-generation train for long-distance travel, the Amrit Bharat Express promises enhanced comfort, connectivity, and convenience for passengers travelling across western and eastern India.
