The Haryana government has approved action against over 100 revenue officials for allegedly executing land deals in violation of rules.

Over 100 tehsildars and naib tehsildars are set to face chargesheets as part of the move cleared by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, reported Indian Express

According to the report, around 50 per cent of the total working strength of tehsildars and naib tehsildars in the state are accused of registering residential plots over the past few years without required clearances.

Currently, there are 58 tehsildars and 156 naib tehsildars posted across Haryana, against a sanctioned strength of 96 and 219, respectively.

The Haryana Revenue Department had reportedly recommended action against 129 officers, including 45 tehsildars, 61 naib tehsildars, 14 district revenue officers (DROs), and nine Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officers.

However, chargesheets have been approved against 118, while no action has been deemed necessary against 11 officers.

Officials involved in executing more than 50 land registrations will be charged under Rule-7 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment & Appeal) Rules, 2016.

This rule allows for major penalties such as dismissal, removal, or compulsory retirement from service.

Those with fewer than 50 land registrations will face charges under Rule-8 of the same rules, which permits minor penalties like censure, withholding of promotions or salary increments.
